Hi! My name is Tracy, and my husband is Dave. We have two daughters, Kylee and Kaitie, two large Maine Coon cats and three hermit crabs who are 12 years old and live in what has to be the Club Med for hermit crabs!. Oh, and not to forget, our ex New Orleans Police Horse turned champion show jumper, Taco! Together we make The Optic Foodie. We live in a small town in southern New Jersey. We love the summers at the shore, the great night life and restaurants across the bridge in Philadelphia, and we LOVE food!
When my husband and I first met, (it seems like eons ago), we loved to go out to eat, and then come home and try to recreate the delicious dishes we had. That is when our love of cooking and dining started. Then came my ridiculous, accumulation of food magazines, recipes from who knows where, and cookbooks! TONS and TONS of cookbooks! I couldn’t help myself! Looking at those beautiful, mouth-watering pictures made me want to get in the kitchen and start cooking!
Fast forward to about a year ago. I was thinking about how quickly our children are growing up. They are going to college and while they are off discovering the world, we will have a lot more time on our hands… yikes… we will soon be empty nesters! So, considering all the time we will have on our hands, I started to think about the things we love to do and it hit me…
And that’s how The Optic Foodie blog started. We are so excited to share our recipes, photos, cocktails, and even a little review or two of some of the cool restaurants in town and one’s we discover in our travels. So if you are ever in the area stop by and try them out!
