This year, I noticed some little yellow dots on my dill in my garden.  Well these look like eggs of some kind. I did see a black swallowtail butterfly hanging out around the dill.  A short search on Google and yes; swallowtail eggs!  Eggs that apparently every little creature out there from ants to wasps to preying mantis would eat.  I had to move quickly:   fired up my Amazon Prime and in 2 days had a butterfly home ready to roll.

In a few days 25 microscopic caterpillars were born!  Over the next 2 weeks I fed them organic parsley and dill from Whole Foods; expensive little critters!  Especially when you husband buys cilantro thinking it was parsley!  Anyway after lots of great veggies and cleaning out what seemed like a mountain of green poop – yes these guys poop a lot, we have 20 chrysalis waiting to hatch into beautiful Eastern Black Swallowtails.

Stay-tuned for the blessed event(s).  I’ll post pictures of our new additions to the garden!
