One of the best way to finish off the work week, or start the weekend is by looking back, way back to one of America’s earliest and greatest cocktails; The Old Fashioned! I’m not talking about the Old Fashioned you get served at many bars and restaurant chains, drowning in florescent red cherries, soda water and way too much simple syrup.
The only way to drink and enjoy an Old Fashioned is with premium bourbon, say 2 oz of Blanton’s, an orange rind, 2 dashes of bitters , 1/4 tsp dissolved sugar and 2 ice cubes or one large one. No cherries and oranges; this is not a tropical punch! That’s all, now sit back and enjoy! Oh and if you insist on using Rye Whiskey instead of Bourbon, try a lemon rind instead of the orange rind. We’re partial to Whistle Pig!
